C02 Blast Cleaning
What Advantages does CO2 Blast Cleaning offer over conventional methods for cleaning?

Probably the biggest advantage is sheer speed of cleaning. One person with our system can often do in one hour what would take at least eight 8 hours of manual cleaning.
There are other advantages:
- Reduced downtime means greater productivity.
- A superior clean. Dry ice blast cleaning reaches into nooks and crannies which are not accessible by hand cleaning.
- CO2 blasting is nonabrasive and non-conductive
- Reduced chemical usage (reduced V.O.C.).
- Cleaning can be completed online with minimal disassembly.
- No additional contaminants are added to the waste stream.
- Once you have cleaned with CO2, it is easy to keep it that way with only an occasional "touch up" blast.
How does CO2 clean?
Rutledge Environmental Services utilizes a patented techno-industrial cleaning system that harnesses the impact-flushing power of high velocity dry ice.
This innovative system uses shaved carbon dioxide (CO2) as a cleaning agent.
The actual cleaning process of dry ice is best described as an impact-flushing action. The high speed dry ice firsts penetrates the contaminant or coating. Upon hitting the base surface the kinetic energy is converted to a lateral release of CO2 which acts as a gas wedge that lifts and shears the contaminants and coating.
This inside-out cleaning action is in stark contrast to that of abrasive grit, which works by cutting or chiseling action that may damage the surface or alter critical dimensions.
With CO2 cleaning, media size, hardness, quantity and velocity can be varied to tailor the cleaning performance to the specific application.
Upon impact, the pellets instantly and safely evaporate and return to their natural gas state.
