Air Handler Reinsulation
Why reinsulate your Air Handler? The reasons are numerous:
- Eliminate mold growth, which can thrive in Air Handling Units, and in turn is carried throughout the Air Conveyance Systems to all individuals who breathe the air in the building.
- Replace torn or delaminating Fibrous Insulation. Many commercial building have fiberglass lined Air Handlers, many of which are deteriorating, unraveling like a sweater, and blowing throughout the Air Conveyance Systems into occupied areas. These small airborne particles usually cannot be seen by the eye, but can have damaging effects, such as, irritation of the skin, eyes, nose, and throat. Inhaling the fibers may irritate the airways, resulting in numerous respitory problems, including bronchitis, and even increase the likelihood of developing lung cancer.
- Increase efficiency by better capturing tempered air, which in turn lowers energy cost.
- Removal of fibrous insulation will improve airflow. Often fibrous insulation breaks off in large pieces, and travels through the Air Conveyance System. This obstruction in the Air Conveyance System causes airways that can block internal air directional devices, resulting in reduced airflow.
Now that you know why the reinsulation of Air Handlers is important, what steps must you take to have it done properly?
Step one, contact Rutledge Environmental Services at 1-800-493-1117. Rutledge Environmental Services’ reinsulation process provides a “Mold Free” Guarantee, and also removes the risks associated with fiberglass insulation, as well as improving the building’s energy efficiency.
How does the Rutledge Environmental Services’ reinsulation process accomplish all of these feats?
Rutledge Environmental Services uses rubber based insulation. Rubber based insulation is nonporous, with a 0.0% water absorption rate. This factor eliminates one of the major factors needed for mold growth; water. To further prevent future mold growth Rutledge Environmental Services will coat the rubber based insulation with an anitmicrobial sealant, the agents incorporated in the sealant coupled with the water resistant insulation provide our clients with a “Mold Free” Guarantee in their Air Handling System. Rubber based insulation also has no fiberglass components, thus eliminating any fibrous materials from going into the air system via the Air Handler. Finally, rubber based insulation provides superior thermal protection, which in turn will lead to greater energy efficiency, and lower utility cost.
